DC955A is a breakthrough analog-to-digital converter evaluation board from Maxim Integrated—the leader in high-performance analog-to-digital converters for automotive, industrial and consumer applications. This unique board offers designers the ability to evaluate the performance of Maxim’s newest 24-bit ADC family, with input ranges from 0 to 5V. Additionally, the DC955A board demonstrates four performance parameters: across-chip jitter, rejection of input-referred noise, settling time and performance over temperature.

The DC955A board is designed to be used as a stand-alone evaluation tool with a Windows or Linux computer, or can be interfaced with LabVIEW or other such programs. The board is equipped with a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter, a 16-bit DAC, a +5V single supply, a dual +12V linear power supply and a set of connectors for I/O signaling. Additionally, the DC955A board has a set of switches and jacks to make it easier to configure the board’s sampling frequency, conversion algorithm and input range. A 9.6V AC/DC wall adapter is included to provide power to the board.

The DC955A board can be used to test multiple inputs simultaneously, making it an ideal tool for designers of voice recognition, image sensors, sound and music, automotive diagnostics and other high-resolution applications. The board is also capable of providing multiple simultaneous analog output. This makes it possible to design applications in which multiple analog signals are required. When used with Maxim Series 16/32 bit Analog-to-Digital Converters, the maximum sample rate is 156ksps to 1Msps.

The DC955A board utilizes Maxim’s Advanced Signal Chain technology, which utilizes the new generation of accurate 24-bit ADC architectures. This enables a fast sample rate, low input noise, wide dynamic range and low power consumption. In addition, the low-noise and wide dynamic range capabilities also allow the DC955A board to be used in applications that require precise signal capture from noisy sources.

The board features a graphical interface and a series of signal conditioning tools to ensure accurate data acquisition, evaluation and control. This allows designers to quickly and accurately fine-tune their designs. Additionally, the DC955A board can also be used with Maxim’s SoftScope application for real-time visual measurements and data acquisition.

Furthermore, the DC955A board can also be used to demonstrate system integration of various design components, enabling users to create demo systems and test various design approaches. It is also an ideal platform for conducting high-speed analog-to-digital conversion experiments. As a result, the DC955A board can be used as an invaluable resource for research and development teams.

The DC955A board also features a set of test fixtures to simulate or verify compliance with different requirements for various test standards. The test fixtures are designed for high performance ADC measurements and can be used to ensure adherence to established standards such as the IEEE/ANSI C37.90-2001 line-drop test and the SMPTE/ITU-R BT.2800-22.1 accuracy test standard.
