The DF3A5.6CT(TPL3) can be used to protect against transient overvoltages in applications such as telephone lines, modems, LANs, signal processing boards, and multimedia equipment. It is capable of withstanding up to 15.0 kV surge and featuring low capacitance and low dynamic resistance. The device has an operation Ipp current of 5.6A and a clamping voltage of 17.7V for a 8/20\mu s surge.
The DF3A5.6CT(TPL3) works by actively shunt the surge currents and transients away from the sensitive circuitry that it was designed to protect. When a transient voltage is detected, the thyristor in the device will be triggered, shunting the transient current and protecting the sensitive circuitry.
