The DG441DY-E3 is a monolithic quad SPST Analogue Switch designed for high performance analogue switching applications such as video switching, data multiplexing and sample and hold circuits. It is intended for use in high performance of telephone, broadcast, medical and automotive systems. The DG441DY-E3 manages a fully specular matched quad SPST analogue switches with a low switching threshold range of 0.3V to 6V and an operating supply voltage up to +15V. It also provides a ‘break-before-make’ switching action with minimum of 150ns transition time and ‘off’ isolation over 100dB at 10KHz. The switching action and minimum transition time of the DG441DY-E3 are achieved at much lower current consumption than the traditional RC-lpf analogue switches. It also supports logic quality audio or video signals of up to 3V peak-to-peak and operates over a wide temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.

The DG441DY-E3 belongs to a family of low power quad analogue switch IC’s from TI. This particular device is intended for use as a four-to-one multiplexer in applications where a high +15V is NOT available. The multiplexer has four data inputs and one output and provides four select inputs to the channel selection. The logic select controls the four switches and the selection of either input channel is determined by the four select inputs. It is possible to configure a 4:1 multiplexer using four DG441DY-E3 analogue switches. The device is also suitable for use as a one-of-four or four-of-four decoder or encoder.

The DG441DY-E3 uses a unique analogy switch architecture to provide fast switching performance and low power consumption. It provides a low on-resistance of typically 17.5 Ω and an exceedingly low ‘leakage current’ of 350 nA maximum. The device has an undistorted low-impedance output which ensures fast rising edges and low distortion at the output. It also ensures high-speed with robust switching performance. The device offers high input impedance of typically 12V and it has low temperature coefficient of 0.03Ω/°C. The device also has tolerance of ±25% to power supply levels across a wide temperature range.
