DG9461DY is a single-pole double-throw analog switch or multiplexer/demultiplexer that is designed for use in audio, video and data systems. This device is designed for use in applications ranging from an RF low frequency multiplexer/demultiplexer to pulse-width-modulation (PWM) multiplexer/demultiplexer. The product can also be used as a digital-to-analog/analog-to-digital converter, and as a multiplexer/demultiplexer for wireless applications.The DG9461DY is a low-voltage, low-capacitance, single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switch that provides low on-resistance and low on-state capacitance. The low on-state capacitance minimizes the effects of capacitive loading, thus making the switch suitable for use in applications ranging from high-bandwidth switching to low-bandwidth demultiplexers. The low on-resistance enables the switch to handle high-current applications as well as audio and video data signals.The physical design of the switch includes a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) gate structure, a metal-insulated gate (MIG) junction, and a metal-oxide gate oxide layer. The MOS structure allows the switch to switch rapidly and predictably. The metal-insulated gate junction provides isolation and protection to the metal oxide gate oxide layer. Together, these two structures provide the switch with improved robustness and reliability when used in high-reliability systems.The operating principle of the switch involves the use of two independent transistors connected in common with a control voltage on the gate. When the control voltage is applied, the first transistor turns on and current flows through the circuit from source to drain. When the control voltage is removed, the first transistor turns off and the current flow is reversed.
