Working Principle of DM74LS158N

The DM74LS158N comprises of a multiplexer, a demultiplexer and a decoder. The multiplexer can be thought of as a switch that can select one of two inputs and routed it to the output. The demultiplexer has two inputs: an input ‘address’, and a data input. The input ‘address’ is used to choose which of the two outputs to send the data to. The fourth circuit on the DM74LS158N is a 4-to-1 multiplexer/demultiplexer. This circuit also has two inputs and two outputs.
