DP83846AVHG/NOPB is a type of network interface controller which supports 10/100Mbps Ethernet over high-speed fibre and copper links. It is a single-chip transceiver solution, including a media access controller (MAC), physical layer device (PHY) and a bus interface unit (BIU). Working Principle

The DP83846AVHG/NOPB is a single-chip transceiver solution which combines a media access controller (MAC), physical layer device (PHY) and a bus interface unit (BIU). It supports full-duplex operation at up to 1000 Mbps on a single twisted pair cable or multiple pairs of HSSD (high-speed switched digital) cables.

The physical layer device (PHY) of the DP83846AVHG/NOPB transceiver solution performs the encoding and decoding of information on the electrical signals and performs the physical layer operations such as scrambling, descrambling, formatting and Error detection. These operations are performed over the basic mode as described in IEEE802.3ab. The PHY also works with the MAC to provide link auto-negotiation.
