DS1013M-75 Application Field and Working Principle
DS1013M-75 series devices are delay lines from Microchip. They are used in electronic circuits to produce a precise amount of delay between two electronic signals which can be set from microseconds to hundreds of microseconds. The DS1013M-75 has been designed to provide up to 75ns of precise delays.The DS1013M-75 provides precise, repeatable digital delay and precise timing functionality in environments where precise timing signals need to be generated. This delay line can operate in environments with a wide range of ambient temperatures, allowing precise delay control in applications ranging from aerospace to consumer electronics.A basic delay line consists of a pair of input terminals, an output terminal and a length of transmission line (wires and/or copper trace). The signals applied to the input terminals of the delay line are delayed in time by an amount equal to the length of the transmission line. The delayed signal is then output at the output terminal.A designated internal oscillator controls the amount of delay provided by the device. The frequency of the internal oscillator is divided down to 62.5kHz, providing a precise 0.016ms delay for each digital input. In addition, a programmable clock multiplier allows the user to divide the clock frequency down to as low as 22.6 kHz, providing a maximum of 0.044ms delay for each digital input.By multiplexing different clock signals, the duration of the delay can be varied from 0.01ms to more than 1.2ms. The device also has a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to provide adjustable precision delays from tens of microseconds to hundreds of microseconds. An internal buffer ensures that the signal output is correct even when there is a sudden change in input signal. This guarantees error free transmission of the signal between the input and the output.The DS1013M-75 provides wide range of advantages over traditional discrete delay line solutions. It has simple signal routing, customizable bit size and timing resolution, low power dissipation, small size and extended temperature range.The DS1013M-75 is used in many applications requiring precise timing such as automotive, mobility, medical, industrial and aerospace. It is also used in clock and signal synchronization, signal integrity improvemnt and system monitoring.In automotive, the DS1013M-75 is used in vehicle multiplexing systems for signal distribution and signal integrity enhancements. In medical, it\'s used to generate precise timing signals for diagnostic imaging, such as MRI and CAT scans.
