The DS1100Z-100/T&R clock/timing delay line is designed to provide a precision timing source for all clocks and timing paths. The, DS1100Z-100/T&R is designed to meet the precision timing needs of high speed, data and communications applications such as Ethernet switches, microprocessors, ASICs and high speed memories.

The DS1100Z-100/T&R clock/timing delay line operates on a unique and innovative T&R (Tailored and Refined) algorithm. Utilized in conjunction with high-stability, repetitive-frequency crystal oscillators, the DS1100Z-100/T&R provides highly accurate and repeatable timing-delay values, allowing for greater modularity and increased system reliability than other conventional fixed-delay devices.

The timing delay produced by the DS1100Z-100/T&R meets or exceeds current application requirements because the device is able to detect and differentiate between the electrical characteristics of each input signal. The T&R algorithm exploits the very small differences between the electrical characteristics of each individual input signal, while in parallel it utilizes the detected differences as a feedback mechanism to further refine the timing-delay values provided by the device.

The DS1100Z-100/T&R can provide up to a 5ns time delay in an extremely low-power application. It is also designed with a special on-board memory to store up to 4 x 32b delay profiles and 31 x 32b bit-patterns which can be used to set up and configure the device for a variety of different applications. This on-board memory allows for greater configurability and flexibility than could be obtained by other delay lines with fixed delays.

The application field of the DS1100Z-100/T&R clock/timing delay line includes high-speed data and communication systems, optical networks, ASICs, high-speed memories, microprocessors, digital audio broadcasting, and digital television. Its wide range of features make it ideal for use in applications that require repeatable and precise timing delays. Its flexibility allows for it to be used in a variety of applications such as Ethernet switches, optical networks, high-speed data and communications systems, digital television/audio broadcasting, and ASICs – without the need to change the operational parameters.

Additionally, the DS1100Z-100/T&R is fully compatible with external monitoring and control systems that allow for quick, easy and precise operation and control. Moreover, the device can be used in conjunction with set-top boxes to provide precise timing for the display of television or audio signals.

The working principle of the DS1100Z-100/T&R clock/timing delay line is quite simple and straightforward. Utilizing an innovative algorithm, the device can differentiate between the electrical characteristics of each of the input signals and generate precise time delays in response to each of these signals.
