Delay Lines are important components which are commonly used in various kinds of signal and electrical signal processing. The DS1020S-50+ is a type of delay line that offers the convenience of short delay times in the range of 100nS to 500µS and in a package size of only DIP-28. It is ideal for many applications, such as time division multiplexers, telecommunication systems, digital filters, line repeaters, and multi-channel recording.

The DS1020S-50+ is based on the principle of Vernier delay line which is a chain of capacitive and loudspeaker transducers linked together to form a chain of repeating pulses at fixed intervals. At the beginning of each delay element, the loudspeaker shoots out a pulse and at the end of the delay line, this pulse is picked up by the capacitor. The pulse stays within the delay line for a given amount of time and then gets sent out again before being picked up again by the next capacitor and the process repeats.
