The DS17285S-3/T&R Real Time Clock (RTC) device is a low power, on-chip, battery-backed calendar clock and event counter system. The 32kHz oscillator runs at 1/60th the speed of a conventional 32.768KHz oscillator, reducing the power consumption of the overall system. The device is designed to operate as an integrated system, with features such as Time-of-Day (TOD) calibration, tamper detection and power management.

The DS17285S-3/T&R is a 32-bit microcontroller based system with an SWO-like logic architecture that can be easily configured for applications. The 32 bits data path and control structures are designed to be used with a variety of standard peripherals, making it easy to adapt to non-volatile and random access memory, touch-sensitive input/output, and analog/digital controls. The device is also capable of dual-port communications, allowing remote programming and real-time data exchanges.
