The DS26504LN+T&R is an integrated, differential line transceiver circuit that is one of the advanced and most widely used solutions in the interface-telecom industry. The device satisfies the requirements of a wide variety of IEEE 1284, RS-485 and EIA/TIA-422 applications.
Application Field
The DS26504LN+T&R can be used for a variety of applications in the interface-telecom industry. These include, but are not limited to, RS-232 communications, industrial control systems, automotive networks, data acquisition systems, and communication networks. It is also suitable for applications such as Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
The device is designed to provide a high level of flexibility and is configured to support both 4 and 5-wire signaling. The device has an internal data rate range between 250 kbps and 100 Mbps and features low power consumption. The device also features fault asserting capabilities and can detect line breaks in three different ways, namely, positive break, negative break and positive and negative break. Additionally, the device enables communication to be established between two points, even if one of the points is powered down. Moreover, the device ensures reliable transmission over cable lengths greater than 200 meters in full-duplex operation.
Working Principle
The DS26504LN+T&R is designed for continuous transmission and reception of differential signals between two separate points. The device operates at a maximum speed of 100 Mbps, with a data rate from 250 Kbps to 100 Mbps depending on the application. The device contains a single differential receiver with a programmable receiver threshold voltage and hysteresis for improved signal integrity. The transmitter is differential with a driver gain level of 10X, resulting in an output swing that is adjustable from 5V to 8V. The device also features a battery-backed low power shutdown to protect against data loss.
The device features a fault indicator, which can be used to detect incorrect data reception, cable faults, short circuits or other conditions. Additionally, the device supports a variety of line codes, including Manchester, RS-232, and RZ codes, and can be used in bi-level or tri-level signaling applications. The transceiver also supports both unidirectional and bidirectional data transmission, thus enabling the device to operate in both half-duplex and full-duplex modes.
The DS26504LN+T&R is configured for four and five-wire applications, and has a transmission range of up to 200 meters in full-duplex operation. Additionally, the device provides line break detection in three different ways, with a programmable detection threshold. The device also has an adjustable receiver threshold voltage to ensure reliable data reception over long cable distances and can be used in a wide range of systems, including industrial automation, audio-video systems, and telecom networks.
