The DS26C32ATM is an efficient, low-power member of the DS family of RS-485 transceivers. This device is designed for use in engineering and consumer applications requiring low-cost, low-power full-duplex communication. The communication bidirectional data rate of up to 200 Kbits/s is supported by this transceiver.
DS26C32ATM Application Fields
The DS26C32ATM is widely used in consumer, industrial control and automation, medical, military and aerospace applications due to its feature of providing low-cost, high performance communication. The transceiver integrates a low-power transceiver and an MCU-compatible interface along with on-chip drivers, receivers, and transceivers for reliable, low-energy, full-duplex communication. This device is used in applications where data protection is required as a features. It is also ideal for environments with significant EMI/RFI noise, since it provides EMI/RFI noise immunity with low-power switching. Additionally, since it is MCU-compatible, its interface requires only a very few external components.
DS26C32ATM Working Principle
The DS26C32ATM device enables data transmission between two or more devices on a given communication bus. The driver in the device receives data from the MCU or the master serial port and the receive control register is used to enable receive mode or transmit mode. The data is then transmitted through the drivers, receivers and transceivers to the slave device using the same configuration.
The DS26C32ATM also includes a power on reset circuit that causes the device to _reset_ when no signal is detected on the communication bus. The reset circuit also resets the on-chip oscillator when the reset signal is released. The reset circuit is not triggered by noise or glitches on the communication bus and can be used to detect serious communication errors.
The DS26C32ATM is capable of operating in environments with high noise levels since it incorporates an EMI/RFI noise filter. The noise filter helps to reduce the amount of noise present on the communication bus and ensures reliable operation of the transceiver.
The DS26C32ATM device also includes a spread spectrum clock generator for reduced EMI/RFI emissions for applications that are sensitive to such emissions. The spread spectrum clock generator works by variably spacing the internal clock and providing further EMI/RFI noise immunity.
Finally, the DS26C32ATM incorporates a fault protection circuit for detecting communication failures on the communications bus. When a fail-safe condition is detected, the device immediately stops transmitting data and enters an idle state. The fault protection circuit is also configurable, allowing users to customize the fault detection thresholds to their specific requirements.
