Working Principle

The working principle of the DS36C280MX is based on four NRZ data lines, one clock line and four NRZ data lines. The data are loaded into a Data Strobe 4-phase LWT that is based on four separate totalizer-driven readouts. The clock line is decoded using a Lock Detection Loop (LDL) that provides a valid read of the incoming signals. During read cycle, the incoming data is stabilized and retransmitted in the desired format.

The NRZ-compatible Clock Data Recovery feature monitors the incoming data line on the input side and validates the incoming data on the output side. It is capable of reproducing the start of the clock and encoding the data in 8-bits-per-word format. This data is then transmitted out of the device in the form of Protocol-enhanced Clock (PECL), low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) or CML output.
