Working Principle

The DS90UR904QSQX/NOPB integrates four Serializers-Deserializers into a single digital device to support a 10-bit, 2.2 Gbps (422 Mbps) interface. The Serializer performs the data conversion from 8-bit wide parallel LVDS signals to 10-bit wide serial data. The Deserializer performs the conversion from the 10-bit wide serial data to 8-bit wide parallel LVDS signals. The device also includes an auxiliary serial interface that can be used to send out-of-band control data. The device is capable of performing clock and data recovery (CDR) on the deserialized LVDS data.

The Serializer and Deserializer are capable of independently selecting output data rate up to 2.2 Gbps and input data rate up to 2 Gbps. The Serializer also contains flexible control logic that supports a variety of clock modes, from over-sampled PLLs to low-skew, low-jitter clock boundary-scan test modes. The Deserializer features advanced features, such as differential line transient suppression and programmable de-emphasis, which help components meet stringent EMI requirements.
