Pin Configurable/Selectable OscillatorsPin configurable oscillators are electronic components that generate a periodic or oscillatory electrical signal. Typical applications of these oscillators include microprocessors, data switches, electronic clocks, computers and radio frequency circuits. The oscillators generate an electrical output based on an input of either a frequency or an amplitude. Depending on the type of pin configurable oscillator, the design may be applied to generate a specific output frequency or to provide a limited number of selectable frequencies. In most applications the signals are used for control and feedback purposes such as automatic frequency control, frequency selection, and modulation control.The DSC2011FI1-F0043T pin configurable oscillator is designed with a frequency range of 800KHz to 200MHz. It has an internal PLL which provides for quick frequency setting and fast locking. The device is pin configurable with four selectable frequencies:* 800KHz to 200MHz* 400KHz to 400MHz* 200KHz to 500MHz* 0.0400MHz to 700MHzThe device has a low phase noise output of -93dBc/Hz and is capable of generating both square and sine waves. It is hermetically sealed in a 9 x 5mm package and can be powered using single-supply 3.3V operation. The device has built-in ESD protection, allowing for greater immunity against ESD events.When using the DSC2011FI1-F0043T pin configurable oscillator, the designer has the choice of either manual or serial port configuration. Manual configuration requires the user to connect the appropriate frequency selection pins to either GND or VCC depending on the desired frequency.
