The working of the device can be explained with the help of an equivalent circuit, shown in the figure.The circuit shows two BJT transistors with the base terminals connected together. When a small current is applied in the base terminal ‘B’, due to the process of current amplification, a larger current will flow between the emitter and collector terminals of both the transistors. Due to the transistor\'s gain, the current flow between both the terminals will be twice the current applied in the base of the circuit.
