The DSTF4060C is a surface mount Schottky array suitable for high current rectification and ideal for a wide range of applications. This device is a 3-pin Schottky diode array with common anode and an ESD rating of Class 3. It features a high forward current rating, low junction capacitance, low conduction losses and an excellent surge capability. The device is particularly suited for automotive and battery powered electronic applications that require fast switching speed and low reverse leakage.
The DSTF4060C is available in a variety of package sizes including SOD-123, SOD-923, TO-257 and SMA packages. It is also available in four different densities – 60V (1A), 70V (2A), 120V (5A) and 140V (6A). It is one of the most robust and reliable rectifier devices in its class.
The working principle of the DSTF4060C is based on the Schottky barrier effect. When the anode and cathode of a Schottky diode are connected together, electrons move from the anode to the cathode, creating a “conduction barrier” or Schottky barrier across the diode junction. This barrier acts as an electrical insulator, preventing the conduction of current through the device. Current can only flow through the device when the barrier is overcome, and this is done by applying a voltage to the anode and cathode of the diode.
When a reverse voltage is applied across the diode junction, the amount of current flowing through the device is very low. This is referred to as the “reverse leakage current”. As the applied voltage increases, the current flow also increases exponentially. When the voltage reaches the “threshold voltage” of the device, the Schottky barrier is overcome and current is allowed to flow freely in both directions through the diode. This is the working principle of the DSTF4060C and all Schottky diode arrays.
