DZ23C3V0-E3-18 is a member of Diodes-Zener-Arrays. The device consists of three 3.0 Volt Zener diodes connected together as an array. The working principle of the DZ23C3V0-E3-18 is as follows:
The three 3.0 Volt Zener diodes in the DZ23C3V0-E3-18 are wired in a “V” configuration, that is, the opposite ends of each diode are connected to opposite sides of the adjustable terminal–E3. When an input voltage is applied, the free wheeling current is allowed to flow through only one of these diodes at any tme, the other two appear to have an open circuit. However, when the voltage across E3 increases beyond the rated zero-bias breakdown voltage for any one diode, this diode begins to conduct and become a shunt path for the input current, thus limiting the voltage variation.
The adjustable terminal–E3 can be used to adjust the breakdown voltage of the array. The voltage across E3 determines the breakdown or clamping voltage of the array. When the input voltage reaches the clamping voltage, the Zener diodes will conduct and the excess current will bypass the input passing through the Zener diodes and out the E3 terminal.
Therefore, the DZ23C3V0-E3-18 is ideal for a variety of applications, including over-voltage protection, echo reduction, generating stabilized references, regulating adjustable power supplies, and stabilizing RF circuits. Because it is low cost and achieve a higher power rating than single device, it is widely used in various electronics industries.
