Working Principle of DZ23C51-7

The DZ23C51-7 is a 3-terminal type diode array that uses 8 pieces of respectively rated 5.1V, 5.6V and 6.2V Zener diodes. The diodes are connected together in series and reverse bias to form a voltage precision reference voltage regulator (VR). The anode of the first Zener diode is connected to the first terminal and the cathode of the last Zener diode is connected to the third terminal. Therefore, when an excess current flows into the diode array, it is split up and the part of the current that exceeds the knee voltage of each diode will flow from each diode to the third terminal in order to regulate the output voltage of the diode array and limit the total current. This method is used to stabilize the voltage in the system.
