Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (also known as electrochemical capacitors or aluminum electrolytic capacitors) are energy-storage devices using a reversible electrochemical process for their function. They are widely used in electronics due to their high electrical capacitance, relatively low cost, and small size. These capacitors generally have a larger capacitance for a given volume compared to other types such as ceramics and tantalum capacitors, and are often used in applications where high capacitance is needed. The specific capacitance of the ECA-2DM4R7BJ aluminum electrolytic capacitor is up to 2,000uF. It is a type of radial leads, high-ripple current aluminum electrolytic capacitor, with the diameter being 8.0mm and length being 21.0mm. The operating temperature of this capacitor ranges from –55℃ to +105℃ and the rated voltage is 35V DC. The structure of the ECA-2DM4R7BJ consists of a pure aluminum anode foil etched with fine pores, an electrolyte of boric acid with dissolved aluminum oxide, and an oxygen-free copper-clad steel (OFCS) cathode foil. The electrolytic capacitor is also designed with a system of stacked alternating layers of the two power materials, arranged in a spiral form and sealed in a stainless steel or plastic case. The anode is a very thin sheet of aluminum foil (0.05-0.2 mm thick) that is etched into a large number of small holes, forming a very large surface area. The anode is etched by immersion in chemical, and then placed in a solution of boric acid and aluminum oxide. The boric acid solution is formed by the oxidation of boron from boron compounds, and aluminum oxide is formed by the reductive dissolution of aluminum from its compounds. The cathode is made of oxygen-free copper-clad steel (OFCS) which increases corrosion resistance and durability. The anode and cathode are then connected through electrical conductors and electrolyte is added to fill the gap between the layers. The working principle of the ECA-2DM4R7BJ aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on the electrochemical reaction between the anode and cathode and the electrolyte, creating an electric field between the two power materials. When a voltage is applied to the capacitor, electrons will flow from the anode to the cathode, resulting in the accumulation of ions at the anode and the depletion of ions at the cathode. This generates a field that increases the capacitance of the capacitor, forming a buildup of charges formed without a physical connection. The electrons stored in the capacitor create an electric field that acts as a buffer and allows current to flow. The current passing through the capacitor is therefore limited to a certain extent. In addition to high capacitance, the ECA-2DM4R7BJ aluminum electrolytic capacitor also suggests high reliability and long life. Once sealed, the capacitor is essentially free of moisture and oxygen, resulting in fewer corrosion or short circuits. Furthermore, the electrolyte surrounding the anode and cathode helps to protect them from oxidation or corrosion. The thin aluminum anode also helps to reduce leakage current, which leads to a longer life and reliability with no significant change in capacitance. The ECA-2DM4R7BJ aluminum electrolytic capacitor is primarily used in applications requiring high-frequency filtering and high-ripple current resistance such as power supply circuits, motor drives, and automotive and medical equipment. It is also suitable for use in low-noise electronic equipment, consumer electronics, and inverters. Overall, the ECA-2DM4R7BJ aluminum electrolytic capacitor is an effective and efficient energy storage device, offering high electrical capacitance in a small package that is suitable for a variety of applications. Its ability to withstand high ripple current and low leakage current make it an ideal choice for many different projects.
