Working Principle

EEL-1EA220WAR capacitors use the principle of electrolysis to store and release electric charge.Aluminum electrolytic capacitors consist of electrodes, a dielectric layer consisting of aluminum oxide deposited on the aluminum foil, and electrolyte.The capacitor\'s anode and cathode are two pieces of aluminum foil that are etched and crimped to form a capacitor. During the etching process, microscopic pores are formed in the aluminum foil that act as channels for the electrolyte to infiltrate the aluminum oxide layer. When a voltage is applied across the anode and the cathode, an electric field is created across the dielectric layer. This electric field repels the negative ions of the electrolyte, allowing positive ions to pass through to form an electrical bridge between the anode and the cathode. This electrical connection allows electric charge to be stored in the capacitor and then released when the voltage is reversed upon discharge.
