The EEE-FK1E680AP is a low ESR, high ripple current aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a longer lead pitch to fit into larger surface mount packages. It is ideal for applications requiring high ripple current and very low ESR such as lightning protection circuits, buck-boost converters, and clocked systems.

The EEE-FK1E680AP utilizes two aluminum foils, separated by a dielectric material, to create an internal electric field that allows the capacitor to store electrical energy. One of the aluminum foils is encased in a liquid electrolyte, usually a mixture of water and an organic solvent. This electrolyte serves as both a medium for the electrolysis of the aluminum and as a source of ions for the electric field. The second aluminum foil is an anode, which is connected to one of the leads on the EEE-FK1E680AP. The other lead is connected to the cathode, usually a third flat aluminum foil.
