However, when a voltage is applied to the electrodes, ions will travel through the electrolyte solution and the process of electrolytic migration will begin. The current in the cell will increase and this will cause the electrodes to become charged, forming an electric field.

This electric field will cause the separator paper layers to be polarized and this will result in increased electron migration from the anode to the cathode. This process will continue until the cell reaches a charged state, when the ion migration will be halted and the charge stored in the cell will remain until the cell is discharged by a reverse voltage.

As well as storing energy, the EEE-FPC220UAR can also be used to block signals in certain types of circuits. In high frequency applications, the capacitors can act as a filter and will attenuate signals above a certain frequency.
