Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are polarized electrolytic capacitors whose anode electrode is a pure aluminum foil with an oxidized thin layer acting as the dielectric. A paper spacer is impregnated with a liquid electrolyte to act as the cathode. Most electrolytic capacitors also include a plastic-film dielectric as an essential part. They are widely used as signal-coupling and storage capacitors in a variety of electronic applications.

EEE-HC1V4R7R Application Field and Working Principle

The EEE-HC1V4R7R aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a non-solid electrolytic capacitor made with polymerized electrolyte, designed to offer low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and long life under high temperature 85℃ and low impedance side. It is ideal for applications such as switching power supply, computer motherboards, AC/DC adapters, LCD TV power inverters and power amplifiers.

The working principle of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is simple. The aluminum foil is an anode and is coated with an anodic aluminum oxide film as an insulation layer. This film works as the dielectric by having a large permittivity. The cathode is a certain kind of electrolyte, usually referred to as a polymer electrolyte. This electrolyte is in contact with the anode, and it allows the flow of electric current through it. When a voltage is applied to the plates, a current is conducted from the anode to the cathode. During this process, the cathode’s ions build up in the electrolyte, which causes the anodic oxidation to build up as well. This, in turn, increases the capacitance of the device.

The EEE-HC1V4R7R has a temperature range of -55℃ to +85℃ and humidity range of 0 to 90%. It is available in 63V, 16V, 10V, 6.3V and 4V ratings, with a voltage rating tolerance range of ±20%. The EEE-HC1V4R7R has a rated capacitance of 470μF, 560μF, 680μF, 800μF, 1000μF and 1200μF, with a maximum working voltage range of 120%, 105%, 95%, 85%, 75% and 65% respectively. This capacitor is not suitable for low frequency applications and has a leakage current of 0.03CV per hour.
