The Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor, or EEU-EB1E101 is a capacitor that has been designed to meet special operating conditions and high temperature requirements for product application designs. It has been designed to keep its capacitance and ESR low at temperatures up to 85°C and is suitable for use in a -40°C to+85°C temperature range.

The Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor (EEU-EB1E101) uses an aluminum foil as its anode, and a very thin, porous, metal oxide film as its dielectric. This is then rolled into a cylinder shape, and liquid electrolyte, typically of ethylene glycol, is added to it. The liquid electrolyte holds on to a thin film of oxide which acts as the insulator. On its cathode, two sheets of aluminum foil are placed with an electrolyte in-between to provide an electrical connection, completing the capacitor.

Once constructed, the Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor can be used in numerous different applications as its small size and high capacitance makes it suitable for almost any purpose. It is able to store energy, provide filtering, or act as a power regulator because of its ability to store energy and release it in a controlled manner.

The Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor (EEU-EB1E101) has a number of working principles which determine its capacity and applications. One of the key principles is its ability to polarize and depolarize itself which creates its capacitance. In this process, the capacitor charges up and the capacitor’s plate voltages increase, ultimately creating a larger capacitance, and higher capacitance can be achieved with larger plates. Concurrently, the polarization and depolarization of its plates also allows it to release a high amount of current when it is under a significant load. With its two plates, the capacitor can also be used as a protection against large voltage spikes.

This type of capacitor stores energy in the form of static charges along its plates, held within a dielectric material. The capacitor then exchangers electrons between its plates by means of the electrolyte, while a dielectric will stop current if its voltage reaches a certain threshold.
