Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are among the most widely used capacitors and are commonly found in computers, automotive applications, industrial machinery, video cameras, portable electronic devices, consumer electronics, and a wide variety of other electronic and electromechanical systems. The EEU-EB2E470 is a versatile aluminum electrolytic capacitor with an extremely high capacitance value of 470µF.

An aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of two aluminum foil electrodes, usually covered with a thin layer of aluminum oxide, which acts as the dielectric. In between these two electrodes is a wet electrolyte usually composed of ethylene glycol and/or boric acid. This arrangement makes aluminum electrolytic capacitors non-polar, meaning they do not require to be connected in any particular orientation.

The EEU-EB2E470 is a standard axial leaded aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a long axial lead sleeve and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. Its rated voltage is 25V and it is rated for up to 5000 hours of use. It is commonly used in power supply circuits, filter circuits, switching regulator circuits, and other DC circuits.

The EEU-EB2E470 has an equivalent series resistance (ESR) of 3.7mΩ and a maximum ripple current of 8,500mA. This low ESR helps to reduce the temperature rise of the capacitor, allowing it to perform under harsh conditions for longer periods of time. The low ESR also helps to reduce circuit noise and ripple voltage, making it ideal for applications where high ripple currents or ripple voltages are expected.

The working principle of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on the principles of electrochemistry. When a voltage is applied to the capacitor, an electric current flows through the electrolyte between the aluminum foils, causing an electrochemical reaction which produces a thin layer of aluminum oxide on the surface of the aluminum foils. This layer of oxide acts as an insulator, effectively storing the electrical energy. When the voltage across the capacitor is reversed, the electrical energy is released through the reverse current flowing through the electrolyte.
