Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors
Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are an important device when it comes to electrical engineering, and the EEU-EE2C680 is an example of one such device. The EEU-EE2C680 is a radial lead, aluminium capacitor with a length of 8mm and a diameter of 6mm. It has a capacitance of 3300uF, a rated voltage of 25V, and a temperature range of -25 / +105 degrees Celsius.
Application Field
Aluminium electrolytic capacitors, such as the EEU-EE2C680, are used in a variety of applications, such as in power supplies, switching power supplies, servers, and modern PC & laptop designs. They are also widely used in consumer audio and video products, such as television sets, radios and telecommunication equipment.
Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are also utilised in power circuits, where their properties provide high current capability, high capacitance, and long operational life. These capacitors are also especially popular in the automotive industry, where they are used extensively in fuel injection systems, in-car audio and lighting systems, and in various other automotive subsystems.
Along with this, aluminium electrolytic capacitors are also employed in medical and military applications. In medical applications, these capacitors are utilised in ECG and EEG machines, imaging systems, and patient monitoring systems. In military applications, they are used in navigation systems, radar systems, missile guidance systems, and in various other mission-critical systems.
Working Principle
An aluminium electrolytic capacitor works on a principle known as Capacitance, which is the measure of ability of an object to store electrical energy in an electric field. In an aluminium electrolytic capacitor, this electric field is created by the inner portion of the capacitor being coated in a very thin layer of aluminium oxide, while the outer portion is made of extruded aluminium.
This layer of oxide increases the capacitance of the capacitor significantly, and it also acts as a dielectric barrier. This oxide layer allows the capacitor to store much more electricity than a standard non-electrolytic capacitor. The oxide layer also allows the capacitor to be used in applications where standard capacitors would struggle, such as high current and high frequencies.
The two metal plates of an aluminium electrolytic capacitor are separated by a electrolyte which acts as a medium for the electrical current. The current from the external source flows into the capacitor through one plate and out through the other plate while it is being stored in the oxide layer. This oxide layer acts as a dielectric barrier and prevents leakage of the stored charge. Once the external current is cut off, the oxide layer holds on to the charge until it is used up.
Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are extremely popular due to their relatively low cost, high capacitance, long operational life and robust construction. They provide an effective and efficient way of storing electrical energy, and are highly versatile components when it comes to various applications in the electrical engineering and automotive domains.
