Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are built up of three layers: two aluminum foils and a separator soaked in an electrolyte. The anode and cathode foils (which have a layer of oxide on one of their surfaces), are rolled up with the separator (usually of paper), and then housed in a case. The anode foil is thicker than the cathode foil, and this increase in area in the anode foil gives aluminum electrolytic capacitors much higher capacitance per unit volume than other types of capacitors.

EEU-FC1A182S is a kind of aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a low impedance, low equivalent series resistance (ESR), and low leakage, making it an ideal component for filtering, bypassing and signal rectifying applications.

This capacitor is available in two types which offer different categories of capacities and voltages. The “F” series is a miniaturized type with a capacitance range of 1 to 1000uF. The “K” series is a larger size, with a capacitance range of 33 to 2200uF. Both series are available in voltages of 6.3 to 100V.

The capacitor is characterized by its robust construction, which is tolerant of mechanical shock, vibration, and temperature cycling. There is also an available “A” series with a wider temperature range, making it suitable for automotive, industrial, and medical applications.

The main component of EEU-FC1A182S is an anode sheet, a cathode sheet, and an electrolyte. The anode sheet is rolled tightly around a cylindrical core, and the cathode sheet is wrapped around the anode sheet, forming a concentric spiral with the electrolyte in between. On the outermost layers of the cathode sheet, a conductive adhesive is applied, which acts to retain the electrolyte while allowing good electrical contact between the two sheets.

The anode sheet is composed of aluminum and the cathode sheet is composed of manganese dioxide which functions as the dielectric medium. The electrolyte is typically an aqueous solution of an organic acid, most commonly ethylene glycol. This electrolyte is responsible for the formation of the aluminum oxide layer on the anode foil. The dielectric medium of the capacitor is formed when electrons are donated from the anode to the cathode via a chemical reaction that occurs between the cathode and the electrolyte.

The main function of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is to store electrical energy. The EEU-FC1A182S capacitor is designed for storing energy in DC circuits, such as in power supplies, UPS systems and other applications needing a large amount of capacitance for energy storage. It is also used to smooth out AC power lines, reduce ripple in voltage regulators, and provide easy-to-change electrical properties in amplifiers and other electronic equipment.
