Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitor that uses an electrolyte, usually an organic solvent (oil, etc.), to form a single-layer electrical network on the surface of the aluminum foil that acts as a dielectric. A thin film of electrolyte solution is applied to the surface of the aluminum and acts as the insulating layer. This layer of electrolyte solution is then divided into two layers, one of which is positive and the other is negative. This layer of positive and negative charge forms the electrical network around the capacitor.
