Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are non-polarized capacitors consisting of an aluminum foil, steel mandrel and a special anode. The high temperature anode is formed from anodized aluminum and its corresponding electrolyte, and the anodization process results in an anode with greatly increased surface area. This improved surface area provides increases in capacity. The anode is connected to the steel mandrel, which prevents the anode from being damaged or warped. A dielectric layer of aluminum oxide forms between the steel mandrel and the anode, allowing the current to pass between the anode and the steel mandrel.

The main purpose of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is energy storage. They are used as part of electrical circuits to filter out ripple and noise, store energy to provide a steady current, provide protection to electrical components, and reduce harmonic distortion. In addition, they are also used in filtering, timing, and de-coupling applications.

EEU-FC2A471 Application Field and Working Principle

The EEU-FC2A471 is a high ripple current, snap-in style aluminum electrolytic capacitor. It features a capacitance range from 2.2μF to 470μF and a rated voltage of 400V. This causes the creation of a layer of anodic oxide on the aluminum foil, which acts as a dielectric layer between the anode and the steel mandrel.
