Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in most types of electronic components and are often referred to as “battery” capacitors because they use a solution of electrolytes to store and distribute electrical energy. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors like the EEU-FM1A122 offer a wide range of applications, from power conversion and regulation, to energy storage and filtering.

As one of the most versatile capacitors on the market, the EEU-FM1A122 has an operating temperature range of -40 to +105 degrees Celsius and extended life with 2000hrs and 5000hrs rated life at 85/105 Celsius. It is designed for use in a variety of digital, analog and mixed signal applications such as wireless and telecom devices and industrial equipment.

The EEU-FM1A122 capacitors are miniature, cylindrical aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a snap-in terminal and Non-solid electrolyte. They are available in 31 values and two types, depending on the rated voltage, maximum ripple current and size. The two types are axial lead (Axial) and radial lead (Radial), with the radial type being the most commonly used. They are rated at 25V, 50V and 100V and offer a maximum ripple current of 8.2mA (25V), 10.8mA (50V) and 14.3mA (100V).

The EEU-FM1A122 capacitors use an anode made of aluminum oxide and an outer aluminum foil as the cathode. The oxide in the anode acts as an insulator and the aluminum foil acts as the counter-electrode. The oxide layer acts as the dielectric, allowing the capacitor to store energy. A solution of electrolytes, usually boric acid or ammonium pentaborate, is used to dissolve the electrolytes and allow charges to move between the terminals.

These electrolytic capacitors operate by allowing electrons to move along the metal surface instead of travelling through the dielectric material. This minimizes the resistance of the capacitor and allows it to operate at a lower temperature than non-electrolytic capacitors. The capacitance of the EEU-FM1A122 can also be adjusted by changing the voltages applied to the terminals.

The EEU-FM1A122 capacitor also offers better performance than traditional aluminum electrolytic capacitors. They have lower Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and lower impedance. This results in higher capacitance for smaller size capacitors, which reduces space and weight requirements in applications. In addition, the EEU-FM1A122 capacitors have excellent temperature and voltage characteristics, making them suitable for use in power electronics and extreme environmental conditions.

The working principle of the EEU-FM1A122 capacitor is relatively simple. Electrons flow from the anode to the cathode through the solution of electrolytes, creating an electrostatic field that stores energy and allows it to be released when a current is passed through the capacitor. The anode and cathode act as a dielectric material, controlling the current flow and preventing the capacitor from discharging too quickly. The adjustable voltage applied to the terminals changes the electrolytic\'s capacitance, allowing for fine tuning of the circuit.
