Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, also known as Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors or Electrolytic Capacitors, are constructed with an anode made up of aluminum foil, a dielectric layer of oxide formed on the aluminum foil, and a other porous material used as the cathode. The most common type of aluminum electrolytic capacitors are polarized, meaning they have a positive and negative terminals. Whenever a DC voltage is applied to the capacitor, the negatively charged particles flow to the anode, leaving the dielectric oxide layer with a positive charge on the anode side and a negative charge on the cathode side.
