Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor that utilizes the electrolyte derivatives of aluminum oxide, typically in the form of an oxide film, as the dielectric medium. The EEU-FSOJ332B is a radial-lead style aluminum electrolytic capacitor made by Nichicon. This capacitor uses a non-solid electrolyte, providing high temperature operation up to 105°C, with excellent ripple current capabilities and long life. It is RoHS compliant, and has excellent surge resistance for use in harsh thermal, mechanical and electrical environments. The design is provided with a -40°C temperature rating, making it suitable for a variety of applications in appliance, automotive and telecom environments.

EEU-FSOJ332B Working Principle

The working principle of the EEU-FSOJ332B is straightforward. The cylindrical case of the capacitor is filled with a liquid electrolyte, a material that is an extremely effective conductor of electricity. The liquid medium creates an ionic oxide layer on the surface of the aluminum film, forming a parallel path between the terminals of the capacitor. As electricity is introduced to the capacitor, the electrons are forced through the liquid medium, creating a flow of ions.The ionic oxide layer provides insulation between the terminals, slowing down the flow of electrons and creating a storage of energy. This energy is discharged when the capacitor is disconnected from the power source, a process known as reverse polarization. This occurs when the applied voltage goes below the minimum rated voltage, allowing the capacitor to slowly discharge its energy.In addition to these winding principles, the EEU-FSOJ332B is able to handle extremely high levels of power due to its high capacitance and long life, as well as its high surge and ripple current capabilities. This makes it an ideal choice for applications in power converters, motor drives, and other power systems.
