Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitor that utilizes an electrolyte as one of its two electrodes. These capacitors contain a non-aqueous electrolyte, such as a polymer or amorphous carbon, as the dielectric between the two metal plates. The aluminum electrolytic capacitor is generally considered a polarized capacitor, meaning that one plate is positive and the other plate is negative. Unlike other types of capacitors, the aluminum electrolytic capacitor exhibits a much higher capacitance in a smaller size.
