Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are capacitors that use liquid electrolyte as its back plate, which provide a larger capacitance per volume than any other capacitor type. The very long life of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a major benefit compared to other types of capacitors. In contrast, aluminum electrolytic capacitors rely on their physical structure and liquid electrolyte for their operation and also generally have a lower internal resistance than other types of capacitors.

The EEV-HA1HR33R is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor which is designed to operate in high-voltage, high-current, and high-temperature environments, such as those found in automotive and aerospace applications. It is ideal for applications requiring high power handling capabilities and long life. It is especially suited to high energy, instant switching power circuits, such as those found in LED lighting. The EEV-HA1HR33R features a very low ESR and a long life of over 200,000 hours.

The EEV-HA1HR33R combines a limited-gas-venting aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a series of three metalized electrolytic capacitors. This combination provides a high capacitance per volume ratio, with excellent ripple characteristics, thanks to the low ESR and low inductance of the series. The design also ensures a longer life in high current and temperature applications.

The working principle of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on the same principles as other capacitors. An alternating electric field is generated when an electrical voltage difference is applied between two plates which are separated by an insulating material. As the applied voltage increases, the electric tension between the plates increases, resulting in the creation of an electric field. A current flows through the electrolyte when the electric field is greater than the breakdown voltage of the dielectric material, which is when the capacitor is most effective.
