EL1110(TB) Working Principle

The EL1110(TB) optoisolator consists of a light-emitting diode (LED) as the input and a photovoltaic cell as the output. When the input LED is illuminated, it generates a small current which is converted to voltage by the photovoltaic cell, thereby providing electrical isolation between the two devices. The photovoltaic cell also functions as a transistor, as the voltage generated by the LED controls the transistor state which in turn controls the output. This type of optoisolator is usually designed to provide a control signal on the output, such as on/off.
