EL1117(TB) Application Field and Working Principle
Optoisolators – Transistor, Photovoltaic Output are solid state devices which can be used to electrically isolate a power circuit from a control circuit while still allowing the two to communicate. The EL1117(TB) is a photovoltaic type optoisolator, one of the most common types in use today that have many applications in electronics.The EL1117(TB) is an optoisolator with a photovoltaic output, which means that it relies on photons of light to control power. The current EL1117(TB) consists of a LED light that emits light of a specified wavelength and a photodiode that is sensitive to this same wavelength. By varying the voltage across the LED, the amount of light that is emitted will also change, and this variation will enable or disable the photodiode. Since the photodiode is connected to the power circuit, this will allow control over the power circuit from the input. In terms of application field, the EL1117(TB) optoisolator is used to provide galvanic isolation between circuits and devices, which comes in two forms: analog and digital. Analog isolation is used to separate circuits from each other that have varying signal levels. Digital isolation is used to manage data signals between devices that require high levels of performance. Apart from that, the EL1117(TB) offers protection against voltage spikes, preventing circuits from being damaged from sudden high-voltage pulses. The working principle of the EL1117(TB) optoisolator is to use the LED and photodiode to control the power flow between the two circuits. The LED is connected to the input circuit and its resistance is used to control the amount of light that is emitted, and the photodiode is connected to the output circuit. When the LED is off, the photodiode is also off, and no current can flow between the two circuits. When the LED is on, however, the light is detected by the photodiode and a current is permitted to flow.
