Working Principle

EL3012M-V is an optoisolator with triac and SCR output. It is composed of an LED and an integrated circuit. The input is LED illumination, and the output is two open circuit voltage pulses (or voltage sine waves if necessary). When voltage is applied to the LED, the LED light is illuminated, and the photoelectric effect produces a voltage signal on the integrated circuit. This voltage signal will trigger the integrated circuit and turn on or off the triac/SCR.

The enclosed LED is electrically isolated from the output. Connected to the AC mains, the LED can be triggered by AC waveform. The LED will turn on and off with the cycle frequency of the AC power, and generate ISP (Isolated Soft Pulse) output pulse which drives an SCR or a Triac.

EL3012M-V has a unique input structure which improves the anti-surge capability. The input power can be up to 600VAC. Its hot operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 90°C. It can withstand an isolation voltage of 5,000V between input and output for one minute, and it has an output current up to 0.5A. What’s more, EL3012M-V is AEC-Q100 qualified, and conforms to the RoHS directive and EMI directives.
