The EPC9101 module is one of the most versatile and widely used standard evaluation boards in the industry today, offering all the necessary components and features for developing a wide range of solutions. It is a DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) switching mode power supply (SMPS) evaluation board, designed to evaluate EPC\'s enhanced power conversion (EPC) controllers as well as a wide range of power conversion ICs from other leading manufacturers. It is an ideal solution for power supply design, evaluation, prototyping and testing.
The EPC9101 evaluation board features a wide range of output power levels, operating voltages, and current levels. The board is available in two versions, one offering adjustable output voltage settings and the other offering fixed output voltage settings. The adjustable version can be configured to meet a wide variety of operating conditions and can be set for any voltage between 3.3V and 24V. The adjustable version also offers two selectable current limiters.
The EPC9101 evaluation board includes a power transformer, inductor, capacitor, optocoupler, and FET. The power transformer is rated for up to 5W, and is intended to be used with a power stage that can provide either a linear or a switched-mode topology. The inductor is a high efficiency ferrite poleysterny inductor, with a maximum resistance of 1.1 ohm. The capacitor is a 0.7uF ceramic capacitor, offering a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) of 0.3 ohm. The optocoupler is a 5mm TLP520A, rated for a maximum current of 100mA.
The FET used on the EPC9101 evaluation board is a 60V N-channel, with a power rating of up to 60W. This FET is configured in an inverter bridge configuration, and is designed to provide a low-voltage gate signal to the EPC controller. The FET is also accompanied by a low impedance resistor network, to minimize losses due to current switching. The EPC9101 evaluation board also includes a snubber (or " flywheel ") circuit, which can be used to reduce EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) caused by switching activities.
The EPC9101 interface includes several test points, which can be used to measure both transformer and FET voltages, and the output current. It also includes a selection of test switches, which can be used to simulate various control signals, such as enable/disable and Run/Stop. The EPC9101 also includes a built-in voltmeter, thermistor, and DC output indicator.
The EPC9101 Evaluation Board also includes a built-in USB port, which can be used to configure and test the power supply, as well as for logging and debugging purposes. The board is compatible with EPC\'s wide range of evaluation software, which provides an interactive graphical user interface for setting and controlling the power supply.
