EPCS4SI8N is a memory-configuration prom for use with FPGA\'s (field-programmable gate array). It is an EEPROM technology that offers the user the ability to configure an FPGA on an application board in a single slot and with a minimum number of components. EEPROM technology offers the user the additional benefit of re-programmability. The EPCS4SI8N’s special 32-bit wide configuration control interface helps to reduce the number of components needed to configure the FPGA, and optimize the FPGA’s performance, save board space and reduce cost. The EPCS4SI8N’s designer-defined features help to simplify the programming of the FPGA and provide protection against inadvertent access to a live FPGA. The EPCS4SI8N is ideal for applications requiring configurable logic, from low-cost consumer products to high-end embedded systems. It is a compact, low-profile integrated device consisting of a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), a memory array, and a controller. The device is designed to be used with an external clock input, and is available in a variety of densities. The SPI interface of the EPCS4SI8N is specifically designed to reduce I/O pin count, increase download speed, and reduce system cost. The serial interface is capable of speeds up to 24MHz. The EPCS4SI8N is a dual-banks device, which can provide configuration data security and redundancy protection.
