Transient Voltage Suppressors, or TVS, are devices designed to provide protection from transient electrical surges. The ESD8V0R1B-02EL E6433 is an ultra-fast ultra-low capacitance (ULCWT) TVS Diode. It is designed to provide electronic circuit protection by clamping overvoltage transients correlated to ESD and Lightning Events.
The ESD8V0R1B-02EL E6433 is a unidirectional silicon-avalanche diode based on a high efficiency gallium-nitride (GaN) substrate. It has an ESD protection level of 8kV contact and 15kV air discharge, and a clamping voltage of 10V. It is designed to withstand surge conditions up to 40A (8/20us) and is available in a miniature SMC package. Its low capacitance and low stand-off voltage make it ideal for high speed and low voltage applications.
The ESD8V0R1B-02ELE6433 is suitable for use in a variety of applications, including consumer electronics such as phones, tablets, and portable devices; automotive applications such as electronic control units and alternators; industrial applications such as industrial control units, robotics, and automation; and other applications such as medical equipment and avionics.
The basic working principle of ESD8V0R1B-02EL E6433 TVS Diode is avalanche breakdown in silicon. It is triggered when the voltage across the diode reaches a certain threshold, and once triggered, a large current is quickly generated in the diode. This current is limited due to the physical limitation of the diode, and it will dissipate all the energy in the transient. The diode then reaches is voltage ‘clamping’ voltage and continues to dissipate the transient energy.
