The EVAL-AD7605-4SDZ is a Multi-channel, Precision Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) Evaluation Board from Analog Devices. The board is populated with a single 16-bit, SAR ADC, ADC7605. Working Principle
The EVAL-AD7605-4SDZ operates on SAR (successive approximation register) architecture that uses an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to convert analog input signals into digital signals. It has 16-bit resolution and operates on the principle of successive approximation. The ADC7605 registers in the device sample the analog input voltage at regular intervals and then convert it to a digital output code. The conversion starts with a comparison between the input signal and a reference voltage. If the input voltage is greater than the reference voltage, a logic one is stored in a memory element. If the input voltage is less than the reference voltage, a logic zero is stored in the memory element. This process is repeated successively until all the bits of the ADCs have been determined.
The ADC7605 features high accuracy, low power consumption and wide dynamic range. It is able to handle input signals up to ±10 V and can provide a digital output at up to 1.8 MSPS (million samples per second) sampling rate.
The EVAL-AD7605-4SDZ also features wideband bandwidth, high speed data transmission and I2C/SPI communication with up to 3.4 Mbps throughput. It also features an onboard high speed multiple-channel data acquisition system with programmable channel timing and programmable channel gain.
