EVAL-AD7678EDZ application field and working principleThe 9-bit EVAL-AD7678EDZ offers an excellent choice for wide dynamic range, low-power data acquisition systems. The ADC integrates fully complementary analog front-end to isolate the power supply from the input signal. High-speed, high-accuracy analog-to-digital conversion is possible while consuming only around 4 mW of power per bit. This achieves as much as 13-bit equivalent resolution in the dynamic range from 0V to VREF, with a converter speed of 500 kSPS (kilo samples per second).The EVAL-AD7678EDZ evaluation board has been designed as an aid in evaluating the features and performance of the 9-bit ADS7828 ADC. The evaluation board includes the AD7678EDZ ADC, a PGA401 programmable gain amplifier, and a low noise, dual-channel digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The evaluation board can be used to evaluate the ADC\'s performance in a number of different applications.The EVAL-AD7678EDZ evaluation board provides direct connection to both single-ended and differential analog input signals. These inputs can be further amplified by the PGA401 programmable gain amplifier, which provides programmable gains of up to 128x. The low-noise output of the PGA401 is fed directly into the ADC\'s input. The ADC\'s differential input range of ±VREF is also extended to ±2.5V with the addition of an internal VREF reference. The ADC provides a 9-bit result in two\'s complement form, which is sent to the evaluation board\'s output port. The evaluation board can be used to test the ADC\'s performance by reading back the converted result. The EVAL-AD7678EDZ ADC has an extremely low input noise floor, with nearly no power consumption. The reference voltage of the ADC is very stable, so that accurate results are obtained even at low sample rates. The ADC also has a very wide dynamic range, from 0V to VREF. As a result, it is possible to get accurate results at both high and low sample rates. In addition to the ADC, the evaluation board also includes a dual-channel DAC. This DAC can be used to provide voltage levels for the ADC\'s inputs. This DAC is also programmable, providing outputs between 0V and VREF. The EVAL-AD7678EDZ evaluation board also includes a 4-bit digital port for programming the PGA401\'s gain and the DAC\'s voltage settings. The EVAL-AD7678EDZ evaluation board is an ideal tool for evaluating the performance of the 9-bit ADS7828 ADC.
