IntroductionThe EVAL-AD7796EBZ evaluation board is designed to facilitate the evaluation of a complete system based on the universal 12-bit, low-power, low-noise, high-performance Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), AD7796. The board is complete with all components necessary to evaluate the AD7796 family of ADCs under standard applications. Application FieldThe EVAL-AD7796EBZ evaluation board is suitable for applications such as data acquisition systems, industrial control systems, instrumentation systems, etc where a reliable and accurate conversion of analog signal to digital signals is desired. A wide range of voltage supplies from 3 V to 5.5 V can be used depending upon the model chosen, making it suitable for battery operated applications. It features a four-wire SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) which can be used to interface with a microcontroller. In addition, the board also has an I2C-compatible interface for direct connection to a microcontroller. The board also has differential inputs, allowing it to interface to a variety of sensors. Furthermore, the ADC also features a on-chip temperature sensor and internal reference making the board ideal for temperature monitoring applications. Working PrincipleThe EVAL-AD7796EBZ evaluation board is based on the AD7796, a low-power, high-performance 12-bit ADC. It features a high degree of linearity and low noise for optimum analog-to-digital conversion accuracy and dynamic range. Its integrated noise filter also eliminates out-of-band noise from the input signal, improving the results of the conversion.The ADC utilizes a single conversion mode operation with a Sampling Mode of “0”, which allows the ADC to operate continuously with no delay between conversions.
