The EVAL-ADAU1977z is an application evaluation board based on the Analogue Devices ADAU1977 Digital to Analog Converter (DAC). It is designed to allow user evaluation and testing of the ADAU1977Z in various applications including Audio A/D and D/A conversion, Audio signal processing, speech/voice recognition, and speech/voice synthesis. The EVAL-ADAU1977z is designed to be used with a PC or device equipped with a Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface.

The EVAL-ADAU1977z is a low-power USB-connected evaluation board designed to test various ADAU1977Z applications. It supports both 8-bit and 10-bit parallel inputs and outputs, allowing for greater resolution on signal processing tasks. USB connection to a PC or device allows for control and data collection and, with a built-in FIFO memory buffer, it is capable of collecting input and output data simultaneously.

The EVAL-ADAU1977z has two channels of user accessible digital-to-analog conversion (DAC) and three channels of user accessible analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) for two-way data connections with the PC or device. The A/D and D/A channels are both flexible and configurable allowing for various input and output formats, such as variable bit-depth audio formats, stereo multi-channel (up to 4 channels) audio formats, digital signal per channel (DSPC) format, and variable bitrate PCM formats.

The EVAL-ADAU1977z utilizes on-board Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for audio signal processing, speech/voice recognition and synthesis. DSP capabilities include fast FIR filters, windowing, anti-aliasing, and low-pass filtering, allowing for real-time signal enhancement and signal processing algorithms. Additionally, the board has integrated multiple-channel support for speech and voice recognition, as well as integrated high-fidelity stereo audio path D/A converters for high-quality audio reproduction.

The EVAL-ADAU1977z also features on-board data storage memory, allowing for data capturing and data transfer. This allows users to experiment with audio data capture and playback applications in both real time and off-line, as well as data transfer between adjacent EVAL-ADAU1977z and other digital audio processing devices. For use with the EVAL-ADAU1977z boards, a library of application specific code examples is provided for user convenience.
