The EVAL-ADXL346Z-M is an evaluation board sensor tailored for mobile applications such as step counting and motion detection. Manufactured by Analog Devices, the sensor board combines the advanced features of the ADXL346 accelerometer with the power-efficient, low noise, and low power consumption characteristics of the ADXL346Z motion processing unit. Both components offer an accurate, digital signal measuring acceleration in three directions as well as temperature output. The board has been designed to enable its unique features to be used in a variety of applications.The EVAL-ADXL346Z-M board contains a dual-axis, low-g accelerometer capable of measuring acceleration up to + / - 16g. The temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and is capable of measuring low to high temperature shifts. It also has a bandwidth selection of 0.5-3000 Hz, ±2g to ±16g ranges and selectable output data rates. Its low power consumption characteristics enable the board to run on 3V lithium/coin cell batteries, taking high performance and low power utilization to the next level.The EVAL-ADXL346Z-M consists of two main pieces of hardware, the motion-processing unit (MPU) and the accelerometer. The motion-processing unit (MPU) is designed to perform real-time, low-power data processing, leveraging the ADXL346ZM\'s low power consumption capabilities. The MPU is capable of running multiple algorithm functions in an efficient manner, such as step and orientation detection, gesture recognition, motion memory, and advanced motion sensing.The accelerometer is a small board measuring just 4mm x 4mm and is equipped with an accelerated acceleration power amplifier for maximum accuracy. It contains a 12-bit ADC that allows the board to measure acceleration up to 16g with a + / - 1 mg resolution. The ADXL346ZM is thermally compensated as well, allowing it to respond accurately to temperature changes while maintaining its accuracy.The EVAL-ADXL346Z-M board is equipped with a number of additional features to maximize its versatility. It is capable of running off three different power supplies, an internal battery, an external battery, or an external supply voltage. It also features an onboard flash memory for storing configurations and program codes, and comes with an associated GUI to configure and program the board. Additionally, the board is embedded with several communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART for easy integration with other systems or boards. The GUI also offers a visual representation of the acceleration data from the board, displaying values in up to three dimensions for greater accuracy, and an array of settings to customize the board depending on the user\'s specific requirements.The EVAL-ADXL346Z-M board offers an excellent solution for mobile applications due to its low power consumption and its advanced features.
