An evaluation board is an electrical circuit board that is designed to evaluate a product or system. The EVAL-ADXL362Z-DB, a three-axis, low noise, low power accelerometer evaluation board, provides a quick and easy way to evaluate the performance of an Analog Devices’ ADXL362Z MEMS accelerometer. It is a highly integrated circuit board board that offers a hands-on evaluation of the ADXL362Z, with no waiting or lengthy experiments required to assess its performance.
EVAL-ADXL362Z-DB is designed to a wide range of application fields. The product is mainly used by developers of in-vehicle, industrial, and avionics applications such as automotive active safety featuring Emergency Brake Assist, automotive in-cabin sensing, machinery health monitoring, and vibration monitoring. In addition, the board can also be used for motion sensing, custom human machine interface (HMI) designs, and proof of concept for target identification and gesture recognition.
The working principle of the EVAL-ADXL362Z-DB is very simple. Using the motion sensing technology, this low power, low noise, three-axis accelerometer can measure acceleration along the X, Y and Z axes. The board is equipped with an amplifier to amplify the relatively weak signals detected by the accelerometer. After the signals are amplified, they are then sent to the on-board 24-bit Sigma-Delta Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) to convert the analog signals into digital signals. The digital signals are then fed to the analog outputs which can be connected to a PC, or to another device to monitor the acceleration along each axis.
The EVAL-ADXL362Z-DB evaluation board contains a wide range of features and functionalities, including an integrated amplifier, programmable ADC, analog outputs, power supply, and programmable signal processing. Additionally, the board provides on-board signal conditioning circuitry and the power supply and range of gain options enable the measurement of acceleration up to ±32g.
The evaluation board utilizes I2C communications protocol, which allows developers to control the board via software commands. In addition, the board is also equipped with 2 LEDS that give a visual indication of activity like motion sensing or outlier data detection. The board is also equipped with 3 configurable push buttons and a built-in Real Time Clock (RTC) to provide timing information and remote system control.
