The EVAL-ADXRS652Z is an evaluation board that is designed to accurately measure angular rate and is well suited for use in automotive, agriculture, medical, instrumentation, and consumer product applications. This evaluation board utilizes the ADXRS652-H high performance rate gyroscope, offering a low noise and wide range angular rate measurement capability. It includes a microcontroller unit (MCU) for communications and system test control and provides four external pins for user-configurable functionality. Furthermore, the EVAL-ADXRS652Z board is capable of providing digital output to interface with the system microcontroller, and can be easily integrated into an existing system.
The EVAL-ADXRS652Z board consists of three main components: the ADXRS652-H gyroscope, the MCU, and the device support components. The ADXRS652-H is a high-performance gyroscope with a broad operating temperature range (-40ºC to +125ºC). The ADXRS652-H gyroscope operates over a wide range of angular velocity range (-2000 to +2000 deg/sec) and is able to measure up to 16 bits resolution. The MCU, which is on board the device, provides control and data management functionality that is needed to operate the EVAL-ADXRS652Z board. This MCU is responsible for processing and managing the communication between the EVAL-ADXRS652Z board and the system microcontroller. Finally, the device support components include the power supply decoupling caps, the I2C communication pins, the user-configurable external pins, and the board ground point.
The working principle of an EVAL-ADXRS652Z board is based on the Coriolis effect. The Coriolis effect is a phenomenon in which a force is generated perpendicular to the direction of motion due to an angular acceleration of a mass. In the case of a gyroscope, this force causes the gyroscope to rotate around the axis of rotation at an angular velocity which is proportional to the angular acceleration of the mass. The angular velocity of this rotation is then measured and converted into a digital signal using the onboard ADXRS652-H gyroscope. The MCU then processes this digital information to calculate the angular rate and send it to the system microcontroller for further manipulation.
The EVAL-ADXRS652Z board is an excellent resource for accurately measuring angular rate in a variety of applications.
