The FAN6300SZ is a family of multiphase synchronous buck regulators for high current, high efficiency conversion applications. It provides a high performance solution for both AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion in consumer, industrial, networking, telecommunications, and other general purpose applications.

The FAN6300SZ features an advanced constant-frequency peak current-mode fixed-frequency control scheme in a tiny DFN6x6-36L package to support high-end computing and server systems. The device integrates two synchronous buck controllers and two integrated 50mΩ/60mΩ power MOSFETs to provide up to 10A output current and up to 20A phase current under full load condition.

The FAN6300SZ family features various features, including overload protection, over current protection, over voltage protection and external compensation for simple system design. It also supports programmable soft start/stop, multi-phase interleaving and phase shedding. These features make the FAN6300SZ suitable for both AC/DC and DC/DC applications.

Working Principle:

The FAN6300SZ is a synchronous buck regulator with an advanced peak current-mode fixed frequency control scheme. It works by driving the power MOSFETs as a pair of high side and low side switches in order to regulate the output voltage. The device samples the output voltage and adjusts the switching frequency of the power MOSFETs based on the comparison of the sampled output voltage to the internal reference voltage.

The power MOSFETs are operated in the synchronous mode in order to increase the input efficiency. The switching frequency and the number of phases can be adjusted based on the load current demand to achieve high efficiency for both light load and heavy load conditions.

The FAN6300SZ also supports programmable soft start/stop, multiple phase interleaving and phase shedding for light load operation. To ensure that the output voltage does not exceed the set limit, the device is equipped with an over voltage protection (OVP) and an overload protection (OLP).
