FIN3385MTDX Serializers and Deserializers

FIN3385MTDX is a serializer/deserializer designed for high speed, low power and small area applications. It offers full-muxing capabilities and seamless data framing with a range of configuration options to optimize the performance and cost. The FIN3385MTDX is ideal for switches, routers, access points, and other communication applications requiring a serializer/deserializer with low power and robust performance over a wide range of data rates.

Application Field

The FIN3385MTDX is designed for the high-speed serial communication interface and video applications. The device supports a wide range of clock frequencies, including those used for 100G Ethernet, backwards compatible 25G, 56G and 56G PAM4. It is well suited for application such as Ethernet switches, routers, access points and video transmitters using Backwards Compatible High Definition Video (BHDV) interface standards.

Working Principle

At the transmitter side, the FIN3385MTDX integrates PAM4/NRZ encoder, scrambling, 8B10B/64B66B/64B72B Coding and skew-interleaving control logic. At the receiver side, the device comprises receiver clock and data recovery (CDR) with PAM4/NRZ and 8B10B/64B66B/64B72B decoders, LDPC error correction and clock stretching and hold logic.The transmitter section detects the presence of a signal and is capable to configure the number of lanes, the data rate and the coding scheme. The receiver section monitors a valid signal at the input by measuring the signal amplitude and is capable of adjustable phase compensation for improved jitter tolerance. The deserializer is able to output two separate clock signals to the two distinct lanes, thus allowing the possibility to accommodate different data rates on each lane.The FIN3385MTDX supports Versatile Video Interface (VVI) and Backwards Compatible High Definition Video (BHDV) interface standards, capable of serializing a single data stream with a range of data rates and coding schemes. The FIN3385MTDX offers selectable encoder pre-emphasis for NRZ or PAM4. The device also supports spanning the total multi-lane signal across multiple voltage domains by allowing the setting of 1V~2.5V reference voltages level.Furthermore, the FIN3385MTDX features an LDPC error correction circuit, which can recover signal degraded due to transmission impairments by reconstructing the original pattern and removing the interferences, including DC offset, inter-symbol interference (ISI) and random jitter. The device supports data scrambling, a protocol that reduces the random jitter or deterministic jitter accumulation in signals and ultimately improves system performance.
